How to Choose and Manage Subordinate City Generals in Evony

In Evony, there is a type of General specifically suited for placement in a Subordinate City (hereinafter referred to as a “sub-city”) as its Mayor. These generals typically inflict debuffs on enemy troops while granting buffs to troops within the sub-city. Many players often ask which sub-city general is the most powerful. In reality, there is no single answer, as it depends on a variety of factors. In practice, the same general can be assigned to different sub-cities depending on your needs. Therefore, the optimal choice should be adjusted based on your overall debuff values, equipment, research progress, and other related factors.

Here, I have selected several sub-city generals commonly used by players. Based on a rough calculation of their attribute values, I have compiled a reference list of debuff-focused generals for different troop types. I hope this will be helpful.

For clarity, the attribute descriptions below are presented in abbreviated form as follows:

  • Enemy Ground Troop Attack, Defense, and HP are abbreviated as EGA, EGD, and EGHP.
  • Enemy Mounted Troop Attack, Defense, and HP are abbreviated as EMA, EMD, and EMHP.
  • Enemy Ranged Troop Attack, Defense, and HP are abbreviated as ERA, ERD, and ERHP.
  • Enemy Siege Machine Attack, Defense, and HP are abbreviated as ESA, ESD, and ESHP.
  • Enemy Troop Attack, Defense, and HP are abbreviated as ETA, ETD, and ETHP.
  • Values shown in parentheses ( ) indicate the maximum-level attribute value of the general’s final specialty.
  • In the tables below, the debuff values for all enemy troop types include the added values of ETA, ETD, and ETHP.
  • Since the buff attributes of sub-city generals only apply to troops within that sub-city, this article focuses solely on their debuff attributes.
  • The following calculations are based on a simple summation of debuff percentages. In reality, actual performance will vary depending on factors such as the general’s development level and total troop count. However, these estimates provide a reasonable comparison of each general’s capabilities under equal conditions.
