Guide to Obtain & Pair Evony Mounted General Louis XIV

Evony recently released a new European general, Louis XIV. Arriving alongside the 2025 Wine Festival events, this general is a red-quality (epic historic) mounted troop general. This guide details his abilities and uses, and through experimentation, provides recommendations for main and assistant general builds. Read on for valuable information.

General Louis XIV’s Background

Louis XIV ascended the throne as a child under the regency of his mother and ministers. Early rebellions taught him the fragility of power and shaped his lifelong goal to make the French crown supreme in Europe.
Over decades, he centralized authority by reforming the court and administration, expanding the standing army, strengthening taxation and trade controls, and placing local affairs under royal officials. His rule extended into every level of society, unifying war, diplomacy, and finance under the king’s command.
In war, he relied on sieges planned by engineers, using trenches, artillery, and infantry assaults to secure steady gains. With a fortress network guarding France’s borders, his methods reshaped Europe’s balance of power.
Remembered as the “Sun King”, Louis XIV embodied absolutism. His court, etiquette, and language set the standard for Europe, while his military, political, and cultural legacy defined France for generations-symbols of unmatched royal power, but also of its great cost.

The Way to Obtain Louis XIV

  1. Historic General Summoning Event:

During the 2025 Wine Festival in Evony, the probability of receiving Louis XIV through this event has significantly improved. Even if the wine festival expires, there is still a high probability of obtaining the general in the next few major festival events. Besides, the game promises that you will get at least one Louis XIV after 6 summons during the wine festival.
Summoning must consume “Epic Historic General (Glory)”, which can be received from super dragon awakening packages and 5th-tier festival event packages.
This item can be accumulated and will not be removed due to the temporary end of the event. Therefore, we recommend not using it in a hurry and saving it up so that you can summon more powerful generals when you encounter them.

The data in the table above is a summary of the three generals’ special skills, specialties, and covenant attributes at their maximum levels. These data are all effective during attack (excluding defending, in-rally, and reinforcing buffs).
If you’re not pursuing max-level growth and have other considerations, please ignore this section.
According to the table above, Louis XIV’s stats are comparable to Olav II’s. He offers a slightly lower HP gain for mounted troops than Olav II, but slightly better march capacity.
Compared to Mouri Motonari, Louis XIV’s gain for mounted troop defense is lower, but his gain for attack and HP is better. Furthermore, as a main general, their gains for march size are similar, but as an assistant general, Louis XIV is slightly behind Mouri Motonari.
Note:
The buffs of Louis XIV and Olav II are primarily for offensive use, making them less suitable for non-offensive formations. This is different from Mouri Motonari’s.
