Guide to Evony Siege Machine General Petronas

Today, we are going to talk about the Epic Historic General, Petronas, in Evony. This general is already an old siege machine general in the game. Since there are still friends who are concerned about the strength and usage suggestions of this general, we have compiled this guide. Here, we have listed as many ways as possible to obtain this general, and given some suggestions on matching based on experience.

Petronas’s General Story

Petronas was a notable Byzantine general and a leading aristocrat during the mid-9th century.
In 856, Petronas led a counter-attack into the Arab Empire, annihilating the Arab army at Amida. After penetrating deeper into Arab territory than any Byzantine commander since the beginning of the Muslim conquests, he returned victorious with many captives.
In 863, an Arab army raided deep into Byzantine territory. Petronas was placed in charge of all Byzantine troops assembling to confront the invasion, and through a brilliant coordination effort, three separate forces managed to converge on the Arab army, encircle it, and destroy it at the Battle of Lalakaon.
The defeat of the Arabs and their Paulician allies became a turning point in the Arab-Byzantine Wars. With this victory, Petronas was able to secure the eastern borders, strengthen the Byzantine state, and set the stage for the Byzantine conquests of the 10th century.

How to Use & Pair Petronas

  1. Pair with Tavern Generals

If you consider low cost, you can pair this general with siege generals available in the tavern.
Tavern generals that cannot be paired with Petronas contain Zucca, Sherman, and John Churchill.
In particular, Zucca and John Churchill are both good siege generals, but their special skills conflict with Petronas’s. Therefore, you can give up training Petronas if you want to use these two generals.
You can combine the tavern generals below with Petronas:
  • William Wallace
  • Ulysses S. Grant
  • Emperor Qin Shihuang
  • Khalid (This is not recommended because this combination cannot use the siege machine attack skill book.)
  • ……
  1. Pair with Other Premium Token Generals

If you can accept a certain training cost, the most recommended combination at this stage is:
Because Champlain is currently the general with the highest probability of being obtained from general tokens, and his buffs in all aspects are better than Petronas, their special skills do not conflict, and they can use the siege machine attack skill book.
However, if you already have other powerful siege generals, you can also consider other combinations. The following generals can also be paired with this general:
  • Christina
  • Stephen II
  • Theobald I
  • Maurice de Saxe
  • Theodosius I
  • Mu Guiying
  • Melisande
  • Pallas
  • Kleos
  • John Hunyadi
